My Story

I’m a one-person shop embarking on this new adventure in 2026 as I transition into retirement over the next couple of years. My craft began around 35 years ago with guidance from my Uncle Jerry, watching endless New Yankee Workshop shows with Norm Abram, and taking a few classes here and there. I am largely self-taught, making mistakes on nearly every project that I completed. After years of gifting handmade pieces to family and friends, I decided to also sell my items to help support my craft making and retirement (don't worry family and friends...holiday gifts are still coming). Working at my own pace, I have my own trees milled on my property by a friend, and then handle the entire process from rough boards to finished goods in my shop. Some of my wood is store bought, but very little. Every piece I create is unique, handcrafted with care and intended for beautiful, everyday use in your home. I am not running Wynantskill Woodcrafts as my primary focus, so I do what I can do at my own pace, and post the items for sale as I finish them.

Hand Made Quality

At Wynantskill Woodcrafts, every piece is made by me, personally. I usually start with my own trees I’ve had milled for about 90% of my projects, allow the wood to dry for several years, and then and take the rough-sawn boards all the way to finished projects in my shop. Because these items are hand-made one at a time, every piece is a bit unique, featuring small variations as I adjust to the uniqueness of each piece of wood. I try and make items that are both useful and practical in your home. I am not a professional by training, so I do the best I can through what I have learned over the years. I take pride in my work, but also recognize that none of my items are perfect in everyone's eyes.
